I have a video I think you should check out. I have been following this guy for a year now. I learned how to put up my books on Kindle from this guy. His name is Stefan Pylarinos and he teaches people how to be successful. He has a really cool system where he sets goals for the year and then every month he gives you an update on his progress. I have watched a few of his videos and I learn something new every time I do. In this video, he reviews the entire year (2015). It’s amazing stuff…and pretty inspirational. I will NOT be setting goals for the year.
I will be setting goals for each QUARTER.
So the first quarter of 2016 is Jan, Feb, and March. I have a set of goals that (should) be accomplished by March 31, 2016.
The 2nd quarter is April, May, June.
The 3rd quarter is July, August, September.
The 4th quarter is October, November, December.
I think this 4 quarter system is much more realistic and practical than setting YEAR long goals. A year is just too long. That is why people consistently fail at their New Year Resolutions; the time frame is 12 months. It is super easy to lose focus when working with a YEAR long time frame. (It works for Stefan Pylarinos – but the guy is a Pro at this. The rest of us will do better with a shorter time frame of 3 months.)
Another Reason Why I Like This 3-Month System: I have noticed that I am much more focused and committed when I set short term goals (now to March 31) than when I set longer term goals (now to December 31). Setting out to achieve goals during a 3 month period makes it easier to achieve your goals. Also, given the shorter time frame, you are forced to keep your goals practical and realistic (very important for goal achievement).
