The Second Double Rule

Question: Anthony, the 4-way match program was disappointing in California. The last 6 draws were 014 869 442 008 677 798 202 (last draw sun eve). I am wondering if you could design methods to include doubles and 3 consecutive number for the states they happen quite often. The doubles 4 and 2 were not rare but double 7 was. Would you consider looking at California past few months drawing and express your opinion? Thanks in advance.

Answer: First of all, I hope that is not the order you are entering the results into my programs. You enter the numbers from the most recent and you work your way back. The most recent hit in California is 202 (it hit tonight, July 14) so the order is:

202 798 677 008 442 869 014 402 180 607 885 581

That is how you enter the numbers into my programs; the most recent first. Now, you have to look at the BIG picture here and realize that there is a 72% chance of singles hitting and only a 27% chance that doubles will hit. So I am not about to change my programs just because a few doubles hit back to back from time to time. I focus on the most important fact in the Pick 3 game; that singles hit MOST of the time. They hit 72% of the time. Having said that, here are a few suggestions:

*Follow another state besides your own. This is your back up state.

*Follow the Second Double Rule: Stop playing after you see two doubles hitting back to back. As soon as you see two doubles hitting back to back, you should stop playing right away. Play another state or wait until the game goes back to “normal.” This means that after the 008, you should have pulled out of the game because 008 was the second double (008—442).

This basically means that you should have NOT been playing when the 677 hit since you had already left the game when you saw the 008. After the 008, you would have started playing in your backup state. You would keep playing in your backup state until your state went back to “normal.” Another thing to keep in mind: You need to have the shortest possible playlist; that way it’s no big deal if doubles decide to hit 3 or 4 days back to back. Finally, realize that this is normal:

202 798 – 677 008 – 442 869 – 014 402 – 180 607 – 885 581

We have 6 days here with 4 doubles hitting recently. However, when you look back, you see that 4 and 5 days ago you have some reliable Basic-55 singles hitting.  180 (018) and 581 (158) are Basic-55 numbers.  So the game got a bit weird after the 180 – but that is very normal.

In conclusion:

1. The single most important statistic in Pick 3 is that there is a 72% chance that singles will hit, so only play singles.

2. You will come out ahead in the long term if you only play singles.

3. Have a backup state for when your main state has too many doubles or the numbers are just weird.

4. Follow the Second Double Rule: Stop playing when two doubles hit back to back. Play your backup state after the second double.

5. Three or four days of “weird” numbers and doubles hitting is normal.
